Wedding Destinations: Turks & Caicos
Description of Turks & Caicos
Geographically these islands can be considered an eastern extension
of the chain of the Islands of the Bahamas. The population is small,
cruse ships don’t call and high rises are banned. Most tourist
activities and hotels run along the miles o beach northeast of the
airport and the populated area in the center of the island.
Underwater visibility often reaches 200 feet. And the islands are
surrounded by one of the world’s largest coral reef systems.
The aquatic environment is in relatively pristine conditions and
the government is striving to keep it intact. Nature lovers will
enjoy the flamingos and giant iguanas.
Lifestyle is quite casual so this is a destination where wearing
shorts in town is considered appropriate. However, the lifestyle
defined by visitors is causal chic as these are islands generally
discovered only by the well traveled. Dining tends to be expensive.
Locally caught conch and lobster are specialties.
