Wedding Requirements: St. Lucia
St. Lucia is the perfect destination for Caribbean weddings and
honeymoons. The natural beauty of beautiful Caribbean tropical island

the freedom of doing your wedding the way you want.
Marriage:
It's easy to get married in St Lucia. For a normal wedding license
you just need to stay here for 4 days before the wedding. After
you've been here for 4 days a local Solicitor can apply for a license
on your behalf. However there is a Special License which requires
no residency period. The fee for the special license is EC$540 but
if you arrive with all necessary legal documents and file them with
a lawyer in the morning by the afternoon of the same day you can
obtain the special license. Here is a list of the documents that
you need to obtain a marriage license in St Lucia:
- Passport
- Birth Certificate
- Decree Absolute (if one of the parties is divorced)
- In the case of a widow/widower a Death Certificate of first
spouse is required
- If a name has been changed, a Deed Poll is required
- If one of the parties is under the age of 18, evidence of
a consent of parents is required in the form of a sworn affidavit
stamped by a Notary Public
- If any required documents are not in English, an authenticated
translation must be available

Marriage License (7 days before date of marriage) EC $335
Special Marriage License (less than 7 days or same day of marriage)
EC $540
Registrar fees EC $100
Marriage Certificate EC $8
All of these details are taken care of by your hotel from whom a
variety of Wedding packages are available. However you may wish
to speak to your Reps or Tour Operator about getting married in
St. Lucia.
The hotels can also usually arrange any other requirements –
bridal bouquet, button holes and other floral arrangements, photos,
video, steelband music, wedding cake etc. Prices vary.
Catholic Church Weddings
In the case of Catholic Church weddings, your local parish priest
would need to liaise with a priest on island to ensure that you
have undertaken the necessary counseling period prior to the marriage
and that you have met all the necessary criteria to enable you to
be married in a Catholic Church.
