This chic and expensive island is officially called St. Barthelemy. A celebrity favorite, the island is sometimes described as a bit of the French Riviera in the Caribbean. It has fine dining and great beaches. It is patronized by those in the know looking for a secluded retreat and those that can afford it.

Its unique properties are best compared to those on other small islands such as the BVI’s or the Grenadines. The ambiance is French setting a whole different tone than the rest of the Caribbean. One may be tempted by the elegant French boutiques and minimall.

There are charming fishing villages where resident still wear traditional garb of the 17th century Normandy. Rugged hills and irregular coastline create beautiful vistas throughout the rest of the island.
