Wedding Destinations: Mexico
Description of Mexico
Mexico is a year round visitor destination. There are a variety
of areas that one can visit in Mexico.
The Cancun area is known for its many hotels. The city of Cancun
is popular for shopping, dining and less expensive accommodations.
Technically an island, Cancun’s resort zone is a 22.5 km long
slender ribbon of sand, shaped like the number seven. Its stunning
beaches must be seen to be believed.
The Riviera Maya region is south of Cancun along the Yucatan’s
eastern shore. This scenic and unspoiled coastal zone is emerging
as one of Mexico’s newest resort playgrounds. Dozen of remote
coves and deserted stretches of jungle-lined white sand beach are
easy to reach. There are also many archaeological sites here ranging
from magnificent fully restored ancient cities to mysterious, unexcavated
archaeological sites.
Off the coast of Cancun is the island resort of Cozumel. Arriving
in Cancun one must take a ferry over to Cozumel. Direct air to Cozumel
is also available. Beyond diving, snorkeling, swimming and windsurfing
there is plenty to see and do away from the shore. Beaches, lagoons
and forest with Mayan archaeological sites are some of the major
attractions.
The Cabos San Lucas are along the Pacific coast is just one of
the many sparkling resort towns. Located on the tip of the Baja
Peninsula, known as Cabos, this place was once a frequent provision
stop for pirates. Today it has evolved into a recluse for fishermen,
yacht owners and golfers. It is unique in its striking desert landscape,
dry climate and great outdoor unspoiled beauty.
Further down the Pacific coast of Mexico is Puerto Vallarta. When
you think of the Mexican Riviera with its palm fringed beaches,
luxuriant jungle vegetation and posh resort you think of Puerto
Vallarta. It comes closest to being all things to all visitors.
It delivers round the clock activity, sophisticated amenities, and
a romantic natural setting.
