Wedding Destinations: Curacao

Description of Curacao

The first image you see is the Dutch architecture along Curaçao’s downtown waterfront. The duty-free shopping combined with the old world charm of the Dutch, make this cosmopolitan island very diverse. Anyone wishing to worship the sun, dive, gamble or shop will find this just the right destination.

Curaçao has top entertainment nightspots including international pop music and Latin rhythms. There are plenty of beach bars, discotheques and nightclubs around town. This island is great for those wanting an active destination rather than a laid back beach trip.
The island offers all of the ingredients for a romantic destination wedding with its lovely climate, historical gardens and beach shaded by coconut trees washed with crystal blue waters. It is the perfect ambiance for your destination wedding or romantic honeymoon.

Weather: Curaçao has a warm, sunny climate year round. The average temperature is about 27° C (in the mid 80s F). Cooling trade winds blow constantly from the east, picking up in the spring months. The rainy season, is between October and February, is usually marked by short, occasional showers, mostly at night, and continued sunny weather by day.

Language: Ninety percent of the local population speaks Papiamentu, a Creole language. Most official government documents and many road and advertisement signs are in Dutch. English and Spanish are also widely spoken.

Currency: Netherlands Antillean guilder (also called the florin), which is abbreviated as Nafl. Or Ang. U.S. dollars circulate freely, so it is possible to get by using only American dollars or credit cards. Please note that vendors can rarely supply change in U.S. currency. The U.S. dollar is at a stable rate.
